Wide-Eyed Wanderer Adventures

Chapter 1 · Into the Dragon's Land

Horizontal for 2 days - gentle with the food!

3 December 2010

12-4-2010 [Lijiang, Yunnan Province]

Good news: I found a place that serves lovely fresh veggies and quite a few places that do a bone-crushingly good massage [the way, aha-aha, I like it]. Also, found some ultra-yummy berries at a local supermarket. Apparently, the dried fruit culture is big here. So, I chose to partake.

Bad news: I think, my body was so surprised by the fresh veggie addition to my diet in combination with some powerful push on some accu-pressure spots during a massage, that I went down with the worst case of food poisoning/reaction to lymphatic drainage [don't know which one did me in] I've ever had. I slept for 2 days straight. The "joy" has started with me getting a limp after a gargantuan strength reflexology session in Dali. That should have been a warning to cancel my plans to trek the Tiggr Leaping Gorge....however, apparently, I needed a stronger signal [like something that knocked me out flat for 2 days]. So, fine, I'm not going. Perchance, it's a call to come back here when it's a bit warmer. Instead, I'm flying to Xishuangbanna and then on to the warmer lands - most likely, Laos.

It looks like, I was a bit of a heavy-hand when I got my round-the-world tickets - now I find a few parts of my itinerary constraining [like the part where I am to fly from Hong-Kong to Singapore and from there to Thailand]. It segments the flow unnecessarily. So, instead, I'm skipping a couple flights [crossing my fingers that I'll at least get future credit with Cathay Pacific Airlines] and choosing to go with the flow instead. Backtracking to Hong-Kong makes no sense whatsoever. Then again, honestly, I feel complete with China at this temperature [perchance, that's just remnants of my food poisoning talking]. Although, there is an entry on Lijiang that is bursting through as this ancient city has charmed me to the core.

Note to self: be careful doing daily massages of extra strength AND eating random berries/fresh veggies..... Also, do not trust the weather forecast in China. It is unpredictable, and just because it's South China does NOT mean its warm!
